The cigarette lighter plug only works when my car is running... Anything I can do?
I have a 2006 Nissan Altima and for some reason it only works if the car is on. Can I change that? It really sucks when trying to use the car to charge something...
I don't know if you can do it personally but the wires for the cigarette lighter/auxillary power outlet can be moved to a continuously running circuit such as the clock circuit. you would have to have the wires cut and spliced into that circuit for the power outlet to be available all the time
you won't run the battery down unless you are using the outlet. if you have a phone charger that has a low current draw it shouldn't affect the battery. Unfortunately, may of the phone chargers are made overseas and they have varying draws that can run a battery down if left on.
