does varnish dissolve in water?
i am planning to submerge some clay figurines i sculpted in a fish bowl. since the clay figures will be in a fish bowl, there should be no danger of erosion or weathering on the coating of varnish. but i am still unsure if there is a risk of it dissolving and subsequently exposing the surface of the clay.
the clay has already been baked and hardened, is it still unsafe?
i will rephrase question. is it safe for fish if i place baked clay in an aquarium? the types of clay i used are FIMO and Sculpey
Not unless it is water soluble varnish..BUTTTTTT the varnish will put off enough chemicals to kill the fish...better to use just a water clay like one that sculpey has...it works better and you can even get some that floats..
