Copper Sulphate Help, Please?
Hi, I'm making crystals from copper sulphate, I went to home depot and canadian tire, and rona, but all of them only carry this fungocide that's green, not blue.
And when i mixed the boiling water with the stuff, It's a big murky cloudy turquoise solution, as apposed to the clear stuff.
However, when i so much as stir the green solution, it becomes cyan, then green again, what did I do wrong?
P.S, I did it right, I did the right combo and everything, will the crystals still grow?
the man above me is right..when you add the commercial fungicide..its green as it is in its anhydrous form..when you introduce water to it..it becomes hydrated..and becomes blue..with the formula CuSO4 . 5H20 the problem is, with the fungicide, your copper sulfate is contaminated with other constituents, at your instance, probably with lime (calcium oxide) thus the cloudy solution. it is much appropriate to use the pure copper sulfate as opposed to that fungicide if you want a successful experiment. as for the crystals, they may form but not the way you expect them to.
