Are you doing it by yourself, or in a salon. If you go to a beauty school it is a lot cheaper and better for your hair. The box dyes are kinda sketchy and not good for your hair, it is worth the extra few dollars. If you go to a vibrant purple they will have to pre-lighten your hair, and it can make it hard to get back to your natural color again, it is also more damaging..but gives you a really vibrant (noticable) color. However, if you have virgin hair (it has never been colored) than you won't need to pre-lighten (just depending) If you go your natural color with a tint of purple it is less damaging and will fade to your natural color. If you go darker with a tint of purple it will grow out without huge noticiable roots. Also if you go more vibrant it will begin to fade to a pinkish color.. all fashion colors fade faster but it is a cooler color. Although I do think purple is a sweet color, especially on darker freatured people. I would color your hair purple.
