help with neglectful pet dilema?
Hello, I'm currently going to college and staying at my parents at the moment, but anyways the issue at hand. My mother has a pet macaw that she does not bathe or take out for even more than 45min a week and feeds the same diet over and over again. she also has two bettas that she keep in those vase bowls with no heater and one died and she replaced it. my dilema is that i have advised her of the responsiblity of keeping these pets and she gets angry when i critisize her and the pets are still in the same condition. it bothers me to no end seeing them kept like this day to day and i do not have the time to take care of a bird and i have my own pets already. This question is part ways venting, but also maybe some advice towards what actions i should take in this situation.
i can take him out some times, but my schedule is hectic and I work two jobs also.
Get some simple literature on the care that a Macaw needs (Several hours per day in my experience). Leave it all around the house, email it, etc...
A bird like that often eventually becomes destructive, and usually towards itself. Suggest she let a sanctuary adopt it if she can't provide the proper care for it.
