how to remove stick on lead strips from window?
we have moved into a house with double glazed windows that the previous tenants then stuck lead type strips onto. We have unpeeled the leadey bits easily but there is solid adhesive residue left behind. WD40 had not effect. we used acetone based nail varnish remover which did start to eat away at the adhesive but is nowhere near strong enough. Can anyone suggest anything that might be strong enough to remove the adhesive but not damage the glass left behind?

Hi , its very easy to remove, as previous answers use a stanley bladed glass scraper, forget all the fancy glue /adhesive removers and hot air guns as these will be to hot and can easily crack glass. simply put on rubber gloves and apply a little petrol to a rag and rub lightly on the glass and the glue will come off with no effort and will not effect any upvc frames or timber painted frames, the smell will evaporate and leave no marks on the glass. rubber gloves are just so your hands dont smell of petrol.
